Hey y'all!! So I'm brand new to this coin collecting community but I've been peepin it out, quietly, from the sidelines for a lil while now. I feel like I know this #129295;#127997; much & still have all#128080;#127996; this to learn. I will ask A LOT of questions & may very well ask the same one repeatedly & 🤷 #127995;#8205;#9792;#65039; I got into this simply by chance. I uh, I got an odd looking coin tossed in with some change from the store one day & was like & I don't think that's supposed to look like that. Turns out it was completely normal #128078;#127997;, just my luck by the way, & worth no more than face value.so after sulking over that for a few mins.side note; my grandmother always told me, "you get 5 mins to cry, scream, clench your teeth & pace the floor but that's all the time you allow whatever it is to take up space in your life & that's it. You've got life to get back to & hunny it isn't gonna wait for you while you cry & whine over something you aren't even going to remember 5 hours or 5 days from now. You're going to miss so many wonderful opportunities in life if you cry over every little THING (always an emphasis on "thing") that happens to you." There's more but I'm getting off topic. So anywhooo.man was she right! I'm tellin y'all no sooner than I brushed that off, I found my very first silver quarter. I know it may not seem like much to y'all lol but that was a pretty cool moment for me & for that to be my very first piece in my collection.I was psyched!! So, right off the bat I have a picture of a penny I came across today.now I may be trippin but I need to know for sure. What looks to me like a bunch of letters & other markings have been."minted?".ummm "pressed?" #128556; "stamped?" heck idk & 🤷 #127995;#8205;#9792;#65039; I need to learn all the lingo also. But anyway, here's a pic of what my brain tells me there is....if I can figure out how to post it. & & &

Could we see a pic--large and sharp--of the obverse? Thanks.

To me it looks like maybe there's another impression of "of" kinda below the of in United States of America, something inside the E in America, in the columns of the memorial I kinda see the silhouette of Lincoln (maybe I'm trippin on that one.I may have stated at the coin for too long lol)

Now again, to me, I can maybe see the word "Liberty" in the oval, I see an "A" next to the O in One & an A & an M above that O in One. Let me know if y'all are seeing what I see or if I've completely cracked & lost my mind. -Thanks in advance.

to the Community! Your post was moved to the appropriate forum for the proper attention. I also removed the "poll" from the topic. You inadvertently created a new Poll instead of a new topic.

Some things going on with your coin. But not a premium for the coin. 'OF' is a Grease Fill device issue. (This makes the devices wider because of the tapered devices on the die. The tops of the devices are narrow, the bases of the devices are wider/taller. Thus after the strike, the coin doesn't stick to the die. Because of grease in the die, the tops of the devices do not form, thus they look flat and wider, but are the same size as a normal device. The fields on the coin can have altered surfaces from die clashes, die polishing and die wear. All are not a die variety, just die events. Die clashes affect certain areas of the fields: These are die events and a lot of coin receive hits in circulation. All these die events are common and do no warrant a premium for them. Just a spender. If you are looking for a die variety coin, check the sites to see what is listed then you will train your eyes as to what is a collectable coin and how what to look for. To just pick things that look different, will find a lot of common stuff. So look to see what is collectable first, then you will have a clue as to what to look for. When you are looking to go some place, a map shows you how to get to your destination. Your way of searching will help you find stuff, but not reach your destination. Know what to look for first, then you will have a trained eye as to what is collectable. Answers to questions before you even think of them can be found on CoopHome. to the CCF Be aware of Pareidolia. You can see anything you want to see if you look long enough. Just environmental staining.
