It is evident that this coin has been cleaned from the disparity between the fields and devices.

This was an older cleaning and not harsh, it should straight grade in today's market.

Great details-decent luster.

AU57

A dealers coin will grade higher when he sells it to you, but lower when you sell it back

Is there any evidence of cleaning on close examination of the obverse surfaces?

Thank you for your opinions, everyone! I don't see any evidence of cleaning on the obverse. I'll see if I can take a video of the coin and post it here later today or tomorrow so that you all can better assess the luster.

Of course he was going to knock it down a grade. That's a $500 difference in the Blue Book!

Here's a video of the coin that I took last night and finally figured out how to post this morning. Hopefully, it gives you a better idea of the coin's luster.

It's a tough call. Without TPG you won't get near AU55 or 58 money for it. Best case you have it TPG and get an AU58 grade and it's worth $6,000 like this one: https://www.sheridanscoins.com/past...currentMB=54

After taking a look at the video and the pictures, do you all think that my coin would be worth submitting to PCGS? I've never sent any coins out for grading, so any advice would be appreciated. Additionally, I'll post a few more coins in my collection to gather your thoughts on if they're worth submitting. Thanks!

post coins in this forum to determine slabbing viability. this one may be a good choice. keep in mind the costs involved. PCGS requires a subscription minimum $69. higher subscriptions include some vouchers. you then have a cost of probably $22 or $38 per coin based on value then you have shipping and insurance both ways.

Need it out of the plastic to assess lustre please, as the light bounces from the plastic and not the coin. I still think this is AU58 all day long minimum. Send it to NGC, they are far superior to PCGS in my opinion, the holders look nicer and the membership is a bit cheaper.
