@BuCoin - I hope this is not an expensive lesson for you. It's always better to seek expert input in advance of purchasing raw, expensive coins. It's one of the big reasons why the CCF exists.

I hope this coin is real because I already bought it.

I'm going to send this coin to get checked out.

I personally trust the CCF experts - their opinions are free.

If you insist on devoting more $ to this example, then ANACS would be the least expensive way to go. Let us know how that goes.

WOW! This is painful. I have contacted the seller about this clam of being a fake coin that he sold me. We have agreed that I will send the coin to get checked out by ANACS. And if it comes back as fake, he will give my money back only for the coin not for grading.

It is good that you worked something out with the seller, that is a relief. Too bad it will have to be sent to ANACS because that takes precious time.

Here are the photos I promised. Two different 1800 bust dollars with your coin on bottom for comparison.

What another test or verification I can do?
How much you paid for it is an easy test. Specific gravity, and find a dealer or jeweler who can do an XRF on it. I can't quickly find how thick these are supposed to be, but that would be another red flag - fakes are often thicker to make the weight accurate. But even down in VG the tips of the 9s are not that fat and rounded so I also think it's fake.

Edit: From @jacrispies images you can see that yours is much thicker. Is ANACS a condition for a refund? I wouldn't waste money on that, just get a refund.

The edge lettering looks like a Mint State coin but the obverse/reverse show heavy wear? Plus the date doesn't look good. No way I'd buy it raw. Not with my money anyway.

Buy a certified example that's in a PCGS, NGC or ANACS holder.
