OK, here's one more ugly duckling for the road. This one isn't gonna win any beauty pageants at the county fair, but I found it in a coffee can oh so many years ago so I'm not complaining...

1922-D

Is that a "weak D" variety or just heavy wear?

Thanks for the opinion as always!

Woe is me! My ugly ducklings are really ugly!

I've always been a quantity over quality guy. Even as a kid I never could save my money up for one really nice piece. I would never go home empty-handed, just had to buy some fillers.

Same with my silvers, as I got older I'd buy them by the bag and toss them in a coffee can (clink clink clink) rather than hold out for the one Ch. BU specimen that would eventually get slabbed.

Even today I only have a few slabbed coins...

Oh, well, I'll find some better specimens to submit for grading. Thanks to all for looking!!

Any more opinions on "weak d" vs "worn d" ... one is a hair better than the other even in this condition!

G6 Details.

If you can still clearly see the D with that much wear left, I don't think it's likely a weak D although I am not really "in the know" on it as I don't even include the no-D in my date and mint mark Lincoln set.

There's more here if you are interested in getting out the loope and doing some diagnostics:

I like these kind of old worn coins. I have a Lincoln set #3 with whatever hole fillers I have or could find that's complete except for the 4 keys. It has the look of how my original set started so did it for the nostalgia just as you mentioned.

PS: My eyes aren't what they used to be so I hope the emoji I selected is a thumbs up because that's what I was going for...!
