Hello. I'm struggling with identifying this little coin. It's around 22 mm and a tad less than 3 grams. I think it is a 1/10 ECU. Can someone confirm this? Thank you.

That is a 1/10 ecu. Looks like you might have the 9 over 8 variety.

Thank you. Where is the mint mark on this coin? I think it's the loon on the front.

There are several mintmarks on this one. Below the king's portarit, there is a heron. That is the mintmark of Jean Dupeyron de la Coste, director of the Paris mint at the time. On the reverse, there is an 'A' at the bottom which is the mintmark for Paris. Before the year there is a lyre, mintmark of the die cutter François Bernier.

For some reason the reverse photo is not showing for me. Only a broken icon, can't even get it open in a new tab. Pretty coin, I have just started to pick up a few French coins myself, at least ones that were made for circulation in American colonies or specifically the French Territories and New Orleans. So far I've only chased the billon metal coins, and a couple of the copper deniers. This is a neat looking coin.

Not sure why this is but when I open these images in a new tab this is what Firefox reports back on the title of the tabs. Note one is different:

Obverse tab says: 20230113_Ecu.jpg (JPEG IMAGE, 700 x 646 pixels)

Reverse tab says: 20230113_Ecu-rev.jpg ( Image)

Reverse is missing the JPEG in the title and the sizing in pixels, might be a difference in how they were saved?

I only use Firefox on my computers any more, tossed all the other browsers as they were slow and bloated and nowhere near as secure.
