Ondiwave, work that thing over! But please take pics to document your treatments. Why not have fun with it? It will probably still be worth 5 ¢ when you're done, and we love seeing progression pics.

When I find coins I cannot see I simply hold them under running, hot tap water and finger rub them. If you can't read it, you have nothing to lose.

It would be fun to take "before and after" pics of several such coins that have been subjected to youtube coin cleaning suggestions.

first pics are after acetone & hot soapy water.   Not much difference. next pics are after oven cleaner lol   I left it soaking in the oven cleaner- will update when I get home. Interesting note- No pink color came off on towel BUT it appears less pink now!
