I'm currently looking through an old school collection & have come across several rolls of coins labeled FIDO. I'd never heard the term before so I set the rolls aside to go through later. When I googled it I found out it stands for Freaks, Irregulars, Defects, and Oddities. The collection had a few binder pages of errors (off center, blank planchets, double strikes, etc) so I'm assuming a FIDO is not what I'd call a collectible error. I'm thinking things like laminations, Mechanical Doubling, grease filled, etc. Obviously I'll find out what's in the rolls when I open them. I won't have a chance to do that until next week & was wondering if anyone knew anything about what a FIDO is.
I wouldn't be surprised to find Cuds, laminations, Greaser filled, minor DD, rpd, etc. I've got a ton of stuff to wade through before I get to the FIDO rolls. When I do I'll try to post anything that's more interesting.
I bought 23 cent rolls that are labeled FIDO. I pulled a few coins out of a couple rolls before I agreed to buy & didn't see anything obvious. Unfortunately I'm too busy to look through them right now.
