AU-53/55 details. Appears to have been cleaned, the dark brown patches on the obverse are unnatural IMO.

Idk where the dark brown patches came from. I acquired the coin as it is close to 6 years ago maybe a tad over 6. Been sitting sealed and in a binder since. I Wanna say the browning looks like it could be natural to me, it doesn't appear on the edge or rev...I wouldn't be able to tell you how it came about natural or not.

I've experimented om numerous denomination coins and methods to artificially tone them. Doesn't look like anything I ever came up with.

The dark brown is indicative of how the coin looked before someone improperly cleaned it.

AU53 works for me. Do suspect it was cleaned long, long ago.

I am Def inclined to agree with all about it being previously cleaned some time ago, was hoping it wouldn't be the case but it is what it is. Thanks to all who posted, as always a big help.

after a closer look, even with the glare, I have to agree that the staining on the obv was the result of a cleaning a while ago. not 100% certain it would detail using these photos. there are instances where coins have been lightly cleaned and pass the test. a better photo of the coin avoiding overhead/harsh lighting would help discern that
