I'm weeding though a collection of Lincoln cents, both wheaties and memorials. Approx count is $300.00 worth. I have set aside the wheats, they are rolled and I don't want to just dump them in a coinstar. The memorials are also rolled and marked as "B.U." , some are bank rolls, many are hand rolled but they are pretty much uncirculated. My question goes to; How does one maximize the return on these? I have set aside the rolls that may have errors and key dates, I bought a coin microscope to enhance my vision and have quite the job ahead of my. What should I do with the remaining LMCs after 1982 ? Is there a premium or should I dump them at the bank? I hope this made sense but if not I'm willing to expound on my thoughts. Thanx

Dave, to the Forum! Personally, I would not spend any time with the post-82 LMCs. Yes, there is a 1/10000 chance that one could be worth more than 1¢, but it's really not worth your time to examine each in such detail (coin roll hunters, please don't excoriate me!). Even the ones that are marked "B.U." will carry very little premium if they've been handled and rolled. Something you may consider is getting a Whitman or other inexpensive album/folder and seeing if you can fill all the holes. A nice set is much easier to sell than each coin individually. Even incomplete sets sell well.

Are the Memorial cent rolls marked as solid dates/mints? If so, there a few which could be checked efficiently--such as 1972 cents for DDOs, small date 1960 Ps, etc.

yes, the rolls are all marked and I've set back the error rolls to go through later. Thank you for the replies. I guess I'll help the coin shortage out and take them to the bank. Someone is going to get a big surprise with the b.u. rolls

with ijn1944 If each roll is marked as a solid roll of all the same date and MM. Keep the rolls w/the potential variety to look through. If you're not familiar...all of the dates that have a "+" to the left are varieties that PCGS recognizes. Click on that "+" for drop down of what they are. https://www.PCGS.com/prices/detail/.../most-activeThere are some really hot ones if you find it in BU Ask some more questions before you just dump them. Remember...old coins just get older. smat

Sounds like FUN to me! I sold a few bags of mixed, red, unc. memorial cents 1959-up on ebay - they do sell. I wouldn't bother with the circulated memorials other than looking for errors and varieties.

to CCF and have fun going through all that stuff! It's a good way to make watching TV a little less useless if you do both at the same time.

Keep a close eye out for a 1922 NO D coin in those Wheaties. You'll be happy if you find one.

again, I have to thank you folks. I did a quick check through the forum and found many posts covering this same topic. I should have done the forum search first.
Is there a way to make it a "stickie" on the home page?
Again, thanks very much

Quote: Is there a way to make it a "stickie" on the home page? The problem with stickies is that once we have so many, they loose their impact and are often overlooked. There is a topic that is hot-linked whenever you type inherited. For what it is worth, that that topic is stickied in the "New Members - Introduce Yourself Here" forum.
