2000 D Jefferson Nickel Reverse Error Or Damage?

Gik New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 01/30/2023 11:48 am So I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong as this is my first time posting on here. I'm new to the hobby but I'm trying to learn as much as I can. So I manage a liquor store on the beach and a lot of currency goes through my shop, I was going through nickels cherry picking and came across this. I can't decide if it's pre or post mint damage. Any help will be greatly appreciated and once again sorry if I'm doing this incorrectly. Also I only have a single digit scale....working on it, but according to my scale it weighs 4.9g Thank you in advance for your time. Report this Post to the Staff

If it is 5 grams then if maybe a mint error. But the weight could be just slight. But start with the weight of your coin first. (The damage on the coin makes me question if this a mint error from first look, but waiting for the weight) Report this Post to the Staff

It weighs 4.9 grams but like I said in my post I only have a scale that goes into the tenths so it's the best I can do, it does weigh some nickels as 5gs and others as 4.9gs so idk if that's within the Weight Tolerance because I don't have a scale at the moment that goes to a more specific weight. Sorry trying to give the best information that I can because I think this nickel looks really really cool lol Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/30/2023 1:05 pm Slightly under, so I feel it was damaged. Thus the number of contact marks on the obverse. If it were a Grease Fill it would still have no premium for that either. (Too minor. 80-100% is the grease blockage needed for a premium) Report this Post to the Staff
