1996 P Jefferson nickel.

It has a raised area along the collar with the top of the letters and date are curved up over it. There is no break in the lettering or numbers.

Did you crop this coin with a circle cropping tool? if so, maybe don't crop so close that you take away parts of the rim. Especially is that is what you will be asking about.
I'm glad you did crop, just leave a tiny bit of the background showing so you don't erase any coin detail.

Now for your coin, I think I see a bit of a Rim Fin down by the date. Can you post up a picture of the reverse?

@jkk, first welcome to CCF. Second, that might be Ridge Ring although it seems we typically see this on cents rather than nickels.
