Looks like a 1998 one cent WAM. Too bad it has circulation damage. Now I need to find the elusive 1999 so I'll have the set. Already found two 2000 coins WAM's..Thanks

Great find. Yes, according to PCGS the 1999 Wide AM is by far the scarcest of the three but thousands of examples of this variety are probably still in circulation.

The 1999 Wide AM cents can be found in mint state grades and higher with some searching. However if you cant find it, examples in mint sate grades will cost several hundred dollars. In grades of MS66 and higher they usually command about $1,000. Coins graded in MS67 will bring about $2,000 with MS68 graded examples bringing in about $4,000 and higher.

PCGS has graded just over 1,000 coins for this variety with the majority of them being in MS66 condition. Most examples for this variety should still be in circulation, with many of them being in the lower mint state grades and the majority of them in AU grades. Of course circulation wear is ongoing and so the longer it goes, the more difficult it can get to find the mint condition ones. Its coins like that which helped get me interested in searching for errors/varieties as they are at least potentially findable over the longer term.

Yep..unless I find one in the coins I've been going through, I most likely won't have a 1999 WAM soon. Thanks for your comments.

Very nice find! Even with the damage, a very nice looking brown.
