Well, that part about about PayPal is a whole 'nother thing. That is just outright larceny on ebay's part to get their cut of EVERY payment. But speaking of that...eBay started sending me little nastygrams late last year which said that if I persisted in saying that I take checks or money orders in addition to PayPal, they would begin to delist my ads after January 15th. This idiot who stole someone else's photo says the following in his ad: "I will accept Money Order, Personal Check or PayPal.Personal checks must clear before shipping." I wonder how he gets away with THAT?

It appears that the seller of the coin that he/she has copied had the listing shutdown and the original listing is still alive.

Yep! It's gone. Hurray! (Now I'm wishing I had copied down his ebay ID so I could keep an eye on him for a while to see what other type of skullduggery he's up to...!)

Quote:Show me where I'm wrong. Lets see what ebay does with this guy. I can assure you nothing will be done. I can assure you that most of the time ebay acts quickly and seriously to coin and stamp listings when reported properly. Report to the links below and be specific. I search and report every day. I haven't been under 100 listings a week killed in over a year. I've been as a high as 600 in a week. Coin reporting. Stamp reporting. The problem is a lot of people are brainwashed into thinking that ebay doesn't care by people that simply sit back and complain but do nothing. That's simply hogwash as shown here. It only took hours to come down once reported properly.... on a weekend. I've seen it done in as little as 20 minutes during normal business hours.

It seems as a trend that ebay is paying more attention to complaints about auction lately. I've turned in a couple of sellers for overcharging for shipping ($25 to ship a CD that sort of thing) and they seem to be hopping right on it....even on the powersellers. Having half or more of your sellers desert you can and should have an effect on an auction site.

scubu - I am truly glad to hear 1.) that ebay is being conscientious about this type of stuff and 2.) that there are folks like you who pay attention and take it upon yourself to act when you see something as egregious as what this clown was doing last night. Truthfully, I did NOT think that they ( ebay) would act this quickly - there were times in the past when I'd report folks for theft of my intellectual property (the descriptions I use in my ads) and they either would not do anything about it or, if they did, it was only because I kept beating them over the head with it, week after week. There are a lot of things ebay's done recently that still rankle me, but I am gratified to know that they seem to have improved in THIS area.

Quote:It seems as a trend that ebay is paying more attention to complaints about auction lately I hope you are right. I sure wish ebay was there for me a few years back when I won a beautifully natural rainbow toned Morgan for $26, and the seller never sent it to me. He said it has already been sold. I went back and forth with this idiot even filing several fraud reports with ebay. They did nothing. In fact, I called ebay locally here in San Jose and they gave me the run around. The seller turned it around on me and accused me of trying to defraud him. Why is this guy still a seller on ebay? He should be banned for life. Believe me, this seller was a real low life especially some of the things he said in his correspondences. I should have never even put a bid on this coin looking back now. He had 96% positive feedback with other complaints.

Quote:Well folks, this guy seems determined to sell SOMETHING that he says is a 1913-S T2 Buffalo nickel. After ebay took his ad down HE SIMPLY RE-LISTED IT! Yep - it's back up and this time he has a BIN price of $500. Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/1913-S-Type-2-5...cmdZViewItemI have RE-REPORTED him. Man, what a snake! There you go scubu. Look don't get me wrong. I also appreciate what you are doing trying to get these low lifes off of ebay. They are career con-men. This guy should immediately be kicked off ebay for ever. End of story.

Quote: There you go scubu. Not sure what you mean by "There you go". Are you trying to say you're right and they don't care? Did you report it or just post here to try and tell me something? See that's the difference between you and me I guess. I'm proactive and you're reactive. So don't worry about it, you sit back and complain and I'll take care of it.

I just read this guy's blurb... "It shows lots of wear and also because its very old it makes it alot more VALUBLE..." Bidding for my 1900 Morgan dollar (AG4) will start at $5,000. ;0 With respect to reporting to ebay, I think if you see something wrong with a posting, you should report it. It only takes 1 minute of your time. If ebay investigates the matter and chooses to do nothing, write them a complaint letter if you feel strongly about it. The more you let things slide, the greater the chance that you will get ripped off somewhere down the line. Thanks scubu for your efforts. The rest of this guy's blurb: "...And you are probably wondering how I know its from 1913.....with all that wear on the coin...because it doesn't show the date. How I know is because I bought it from coin shop who's coins are all very authentic and the guy who worked there had only one of these left and I asked him what year it was and he said 1913...he had all his old nickels and other coins in order by date." < http://cgi.ebay.com/1913-S-Type-2-5...OL_W0QQitemZ170309326771QQihZ007QQcategoryZ139807QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?whichpage=2#ebayphotohosting>

If I see blatant fraud in front of me, of course I want to do something about it. I believe the best thing ebay can do to protect the overall majority of good folks like yourself and I, is to kick these people off of ebay if they are reported more than once. This would eliminate the problem almost completely in my opinion.

We are doing something about this just by posting and reporting, that might be all that can be done, but it is better than nothing. NOW ..People think they are getting away with it but I believe I've heard they sell ice cold bottled water in Hede's in vending machines. These kind of sellers will wish they really did have some real coins. andThe people that steal coins will have the same machines take their money and dispense nothing in return. OUT OF ORDER! In the hereafter, honest coin collectors will have a route trucks and run vending businesses and service the machines.
