My first post and would love folks opinion, here's why I ask. 6 weeks ago purchased 8 quarter rolls from a local branch to hunt 6 were various 1999 commemorative, two weeks ago purchased 10 rolls from another branch, 6 were various 2008 Olympic commemorative and 2 were 2013 Brock colour mix.
Seems quite long to be languishing in a bank vault.

It is more likely that they were recently bought from a customer. Perhaps that person was holding onto them for years and found out that they were only worth face value.

Some friends who worked in retail at that time optimistically kept many of those rolls. Today they are worth FV.

Happy collecting!

The greater use of credit cards has lessened the use of currency and coins.
I go weeks without receiving any coins.
And since I don't receive many I don't use many.

Am I typical?
I don't know.
But the Gov't keeps striking coins.
And if they are used less often they have to be stacking up somewhere.

It has literally been years since I used cash. Probably the last time was my last visit to a casino in 2019.

Yeah, I kinda knew the answer. I haven't used cash in years either although I keep a stack of loonies in the car to tip the folks at Tim's. I kept a couple of the nicest examples from each roll and returned the rest. It would be nice if the RMC started reducing the numbers minted. Part of what prompted me to ask is that I read an old US thread on the subject where someone said all US coins are generally in active circulation within 2 to 3 years of original release date.
Thanks for the replies.

Agree, haven't used any form of cash for years, I don't hesitate to charge two bucks worth of stuff at Walgreens.

I only use credit cards for things ordered on-line and most grocery stores. I use cash for everyday things.

I still use cash just so I can go through my pocket change and bills, you never know what you will find. As for OP I have saved some mint wrapped rolls of circulation coin and sold some for 20-50% premium, it depends what other collectors are looking for.
