I'll say EF-45. Lighting makes it difficult to see the surface coloring well.

Lots of wear above ear and cheek bone. EF-40.

Looks like the grade is dropping one step at a time.

Hmm, lots of detail in the wheat stalks and enough in the hair for me to warrant AU-50ish With possible weak strike in the hair...

The pic colors appear unnatural and slightly iridescent - if accurate, then I'd guess this has been cleaned.

Quote: VF-35 I'm in the EF group. But I tend to be high on grade. I am interested in more comments on the color and possible cleaning tho.

Quote: I'm in the EF group. The cheek and beard are significantly flattened, the wear extends across the entire lapel. Obverse date, LIB and motto starting to flatten. The reverse wheat grains are too flattened and lines are starting to merge on the left stalk. These are generally well struck coins as the mint bosses were cracking down (especially on Denver) in the 30's due to the poor quality of their cents - the 20's was a bad decade. I admit, my gut said EF40 at first.....then I looked closer.

Badthad, thank you!
I appreciate the time you took to break that down for us. Like the Jefferson series there are nuances with the Lincoln's from decade to decade, year to year. You can definitely not compare this 1930's wear to a 1920's.
These nuances don't really matter when collecting average circulation coins but as with you, I crave the challenge and an esthetic of the not so common. When collecting for rarity and beauty cost becomes significant from VF to EF (with some years) and being able to notice the detail you just described is so valuable. I am extremely appreciative of your input here.

I'm at XF40 and also I agree with coinfrog that the coin most likely was cleaned and may not grade straight
