Am I trippin? I've noticed quite a lot that when I'm looking at coins that are generally trashed, I see numerous, random and otherwise illogical images, numbers and letters from other coins in the background of the subject coin. Usually not a complete picture etc. But I KNOW I'm seeing bits and pieces of stuff. Is this a reality or do I need to detox ?

@bor, yes exactly what @num said. You have defined Pareidolia.

Let's see...

I see some moon craters,
a map of the western hemisphere (between E & T and right wheat stalk),
a man's face with beard (above left wheat stalk),
several people walking toward the left (SW of C in CENT).

I'm trippin!

That spot at 5h looks a lot like Washington crossing the Delaware...

I am not terribly imaginative. I just see a badly corroded coin with an even worse cleaning.

I'm telling you, they are there. Take some beat up pennies and just start going over them with a magnifying device just scan around. You'll start seeing them. Bits and pieces of all kinds of images from other coins. Sometimes it's like they are layered. Seriously. Check it out. It's pretty wild. I'd like to know how it happens

AND , They're not actually struck into the metal. If you wipe the coin well, They disappear. They somehow get transferred to the coin. Gotta be a scientific explanation

The Statue of Liberty is standing right in front of Lincoln's face. Her torch flame is right in the iock of hair on his forehead.
