1943 S Lincoln Cent DDR-006 Stage (?)
http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20...3SDDR006.htm

I won this coin a couple of weeks ago. The description listed it as "details" which is usually the case for Lincoln seel cents. I assumed it was re-plated but saw the thickness on the reverse and wanted it anyway. I couldn't quite make out which variety from the seller's images.

In hand, the die gouge marker on the N (ONE) made it easy to attribute. There are some different markers as well.

One is a die crack/scratch on the reverse extending from the rim above the U (EPU) south, left of the O (ONE), to the E (CENT). Another die crack at the rim at K5 north to the base of the right wheat, continues north, and starts to exit the wheat ear at the fifth seed from the bottom.

The date on mine has me puzzeled a little as it doesn't seem to look like the one in VV. The MM on mine is strong and complete, even the bottom curve. VV only has one obverse image and it is the date. Maybe the obverse die was changed out on my coin?

Anyway, enjoy and let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I like the intrigue which steel cents can bring to a conversation.

The reverse is showing a die clash event. The reverse looks like a DDR. On the DDR-006 there is a die issue like what you have on your coin:

But the left wheat lines are not as strong as you coin has. (first time I've seen that issue on the 'N'.) But you might check your coin with that die listing?
