Hey everybody, I'm new here so I apologize for just launching into this. Around this time last year I submitted 70 Morgan silver dollars for grading. When I received the submission back, none of the coins had been sealed. When I notified the company, I realized from their response that I was facing an uphill battle that I could not handle mentally or financially at the time, so, 8 months on, I still have them. Fortunately l think I'm finally prepared to re-address the situation and am currently waiting to hear back from a CS Supervisor. In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with a similar situation? I'm also glad to answer any questions regarding my situation if it helps at all. Thanks very much!

Have they been graded and placed in holders but not sonically sealed?

70 coins and none of them graded? Which grading service? All the major TPG's will tell you exactly why each coin didn't grade. I fear we're missing a lot of information here.

@John1 PCGS
@nfine Yes, they have been graded but the holders were not sonically sealed. When closed they "look" sealed, but can be opened fairly easily by hand without tools.

@BadThad All have been graded, save one Lowball where the date was worn down too badly I guess.

There were several reports of this last year on the PCGS board. Perhaps a piece of equipment went out of tune. Contact CS, they should send you a prepaid label to correct this.

@BStrauss3 I've contacted CS, just waiting to hear back from a Supervisor as I was uncomfortable sending such a large order back without assurances from them on grades staying the same, etc. While I wouldn't wish it on anyone, I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one affected. I received the order in late June of last year; do you happen to recall when you saw the other reports?

If they have been graded already. It would be like sending it for reholding. The grade and cert. # should not change.
And it should be on PCGSs dime

@jbuck Thank you for the warm welcome.
@keith12 The way CS explained it when I first contacted them about it (last year) was that they would need to basically re-do the whole grading process in case any of the coins were damaged in shipment due to not being secured properly. I'm sure they'd want to make sure that they're the same coins as well, since obviously their mistake has opened the door for potential shenanigans. And they did assure me then that I would not be charged for the re-grading or shipping.

They said the cost would be on them, I don't see any problem. Other than a little time.

Hi unimpossible, welcome back under a new name? I see your story has changed from your prior user name. http://goccf.com/t/424655I also responded to your post on the PCGS forum. PCGS offered to reslab the coins but you said you wanted compensation which PCGS wouldn't do. So now all 70 slabs are broken? Kind of seems suspicious . Welcome back but I believe it's against the TOS to have more than 1 account.
