Hi CC, I found this blue dime and I am not sure what to make of it. It is completely blue on the obv and only around the rim on the rev. It is in really nice condition and it is a little shiny but no real luster to speak of. Is it toning, PMD, a clad layer issue? Any ideas?

have you tried a little acetone on it? it might come off if it's some sort of pigment.

Nothing in the minting process could produce this, so it is PMD. There are a lot of things it could come in contact with to make a blue stain on it. But I agree this looks like it was heated.

I found one the other day that's all blue. I put it in a 2by 2. If you like it keep it, it only cost you .10.

I also have a Blue dime, blue Nickle, and blue Quarter, after researching ? Why wasn't Kennedy supposed too be on the 1965 Half dollar , because it was reserved for someone else ? Someone that , planning started in the late 50's , too have this Celebtation , too hide there experimenting , no one set would all be the same , the same mineral ( silver , gold ) , and that in 1960 it was advised too watch for odd coins, starting when the plans were done conceiving what to do, I know of a 1961 blue quarter, I personally have the 65 quarter, and a dime and Nickle which I am going too have too dig up and show the forum ! There all from US MINT SETS , from different years , I believe my dome is 1963, Nickle 1962 ! All in proof stage , and DDO on this quarter, not sure of the the dime and Nickle ! I believe these were those coins, experiments for this grand celebration planned , until President Kennedy was assasinated , which threw off the planning of this event for BENJAMIN FRANKLYN ! All records were too be destroyed , but all the elites in the government were already givin there $.50 pieces , too which they were too never take it out until the event ! Rumor was , one was left for a tip , it was squelched as fake ! But these coins are not fake , there would be more , but Kennedys assassination was swept under the rug and all coins were supposed too be destroyed ! Weigh that 1965 quarter ! It's within scope on the high end of the weight allowed , it might even be at the number ! If you find one over the number ? Then they would have too tell the story , they've concealed for far too long ! The lady who got the Tip ? Died of mysterious causes ! So it's a great investigation I studied for over 2 years , truth be told ! Thank you Dano

shorzy, I know that coins bluer than it looks, my pictures lessen the blue also, I found the dime I have , and I did forget the penny that came with it , both out of the beige envelope, in gov. cello, and I remember now how well struck they were , almost as if they were wet looking , weigh it , it should weigh what a 90% silver dime would weigh 2.50g within its tolerance .08 ! They say there's 90% silver dimes and quarters out there? They failed to tell us they were Blue! It's a Real coin, a very rare coin indeed, Dano
