Somebody took a pliers to it and broke off a piece. The remaining copper plating is bent in on both sides.
Great pictures though. The zinc core looks like granite

Yes, post-strike damage has exposed the zinc core--which will begin to 'rot' (deteriorate). I suspect die cracks are not present, given the images posted.

I'm going to agree I believe somebody took pliers to it or something. Many of those and I saw don't have the erosion that that one does and there's many other factors which the other person has already stated. Sorry

Look at pics 4 and 6 there is a large die chip above the R. On reverse.

Not seeing any chip. Doesn't matter. Damage makes this coin face value. Spend it before it rots away.
