Hard to say. Regardless, it's minor.

Hi Vince, I've noticed there are a lot of ink smudges and vertical line black smudges on 2017 and 2017a 1's as well both front and back. I checked a 2017 pack new and found some and others like the below have popped up (plus around the president portrait also) so they like yours are definately from the printing and not something later on so I would keep it for now. Its unknown which if any of these errors which are minor will have any value yet and how common like the 2013 overinked serials will be. Remember since 2013 we discussed the new printing machinery so things are different than before 2013 and new problems always pop up with changes. -David

David, Thanks for the info. I kept that one $2 and deposit the rest yesterday. Even if its a minor error, it's still cool to keep.

@theserialflorist Quote: interesting that the left margins are visibly different with the same plate position Are you talking about my $2 note or David's $1 picture?

@luckyrollers, talking about your two $2 bills, which you show side by side; the 52070101 left margin visibly looks larger. Not an error nor an unusal variation for the general population of bills, but your two are from the same run. Not earth shattering but curious and it was noticeable

Nice eye SerialFlorist. Typically, misaligned notes will appear well-centered on one side and off-center on the other side. Both sides of the note will be affected by a cutting error to tell the difference between the two. Sometimes, when the sheet of bills gets out of alignment during printing, the note will have uneven borders, a truncated design or even part of the next note's design. In order to qualify for a Cutting Error a small portion of the adjacent note must be visible or (when the error occurs at the edge of the sheet) a small portion of the note's design must be cut off. https://www.pmgnotes.com/news/artic...tember-2021/Quote: Thanks for the info. Yes until something is found to be too common like the 2013 serial overinking such as the third digit where most just keep 1 or 2 examples only at that point as they wont hold much if any value although casual collectors might buy them. $2 bills are great for gifts and also to spend as many dont see them. You might get those "Oh wow! $2 bills!"
