"FICHA DE CAMBIO" translates from Spanish as "change token" (token of change). Sorata? Perhaps some commercial establishment. Couldn't find anything about this specific token, though.

Many thanks !
Sorata is a town in the La Paz Department of Bolivia.
I also searched a lot on the net, but without result. Perhaps a municipal token or hotel token ?

Maybe someone has a newer Catalog of Russel Rulau - 2nd Edition (2000) "Latin American Tokens" ?
I have only the first Edition (1992) .

More accurately, a ficha de cambio is a bargaining chip (when used figuratively) or an exchange coin = token (literally) The lack of a denomination means this is not a hacienda or company store type token, but probably instead was used more like a fare or passage token, e.g. for a ferry, a ship or a carriage. England's Heaton Mint produced many of the tokens and circulating coinage issues for Latin America, including Bolivia, in the latter part of the 19th c. so there's a good chance this was a Heaton Mint issue or even a US issue -- the wreath is not dissimilar to Longacre's oak wreath on the Indian Head cents, without the shield on top of course. It appears broadly similar in composition to the same (bronze) which would line up with the date of 1874 as given on the token.

***According to the "Sorata 1874" token, I also think that this is a game token of a later coinage with a reference to some historical event in 1874.*** Check this out: ferryman : on 18 Apr 2022, 05:42:04 Gender:Male City:Berlin Card number: 2754-xxxx https://coins.su/forum/topic/309214...74-i-1876-g/

Dorado, thanks for the link. This is just one of the unconfirmed hypotheses.

Remarkably ZERO info on this out there. Nothing numismatic of Sorata from Stack's Ponterio, Heritage, on acsearch, ebay Worthpoint archives... absolutely ZERO Google results for this token other than this thread. Bizarre for something clearly with some age... and does look to be of quality European manufacture (plus surfaced in Europe).

This token came to me after buying a coin lot on ebay : This lot had one more token and 3 scarce coins from Bolivia. Dated 1876 and 1878, the same time period ! The seller of this lot was located in the north of Germany, near Hamburg.
