Hello, I found this coin. It has very little detail. I have enhanced a much as possible. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks in advance for all the help. Looks like an eagle to me. 2nd photo of front not much detail with the loop it looks like there may be a shield with a cross but not sure. I don't have a scale to weigh it. I'm not really seeing anything there that tells me it's a coin. Just because something is round-ish and made of metal, doesn't mean it must have once been a coin. Where did you "find" it?

I found it metal detecting in Colorado also found a Seated Liberty dime in the same area. What do you think this may possibly be? it has a definite design on it. They are not random marks on the one side.

Is it attracted to a magnet, and if so, strongly or weakly?

Hello. The coin is not attracted to a magnet at all. I have a very strong magnetic and there is no type of attraction. Any Ideas?

Those do look like deliberate markings in that last picture, rather than random blobs. But it looks hand-carved, not cast or struck. Whoever carved it presumably had their reasons, but those are now lost to us.
The odd shape then requires explanation - a perfectly round object with hand-carving would be a hobo nickel, but a hobo nickel wouldn't have such an odd shape.. Perhaps someone was aiming to imitate the shape of an ancient or mediaeval coin? In which case, given the rather crude carved design, I'm wondering if it's "prop money" - something made for use in a theatrical play?

Thanks for the reply. I took a picture of the other side of the coin and enhanced what I could with 3d paint app. There is a lot of detail on the coin. especially above the horse. there are small birds they look like small eagles and doves. Just thought I would share. Thanks for all the help. Have a great weekend!!!!

Joe, I appreciate your skills with that paint app, but this looks like Pareidolia to me.

Last share I promise, lol. Just wanted to share the small detail on this object. You must be right about my mind seeing things that are not there, because I see a few different things here. Thanks for helping me to understand about this find. Have a great weekend!!!

I see a clear Native American design. Perhaps it was used in trade with the settlers.
Did you find it near an old Indian Reservation or area that was known to be Native?
If I may ask, where was it located? That could help to figure it out. It's a really cool piece. After 40 years of living in Colorado, I am quite knowledgeable of it's history.
