Both dimes I know for sure are proofs. When is the 1959 and the other is a 1961. I have not taken them out of there cases to weigh them so I don't know what they weigh yet. But why does one look shinier than the other? When I look at my other proof dimes that have a cameo, it looks like the whole coin was cameoed? I'm just speculating there because I have no idea lol! Very thankful to anybody and everybody who can help me out with this. I'm still very new!

Also, the 1964 is a cameo coin. It weighs 2.6 g so not the amazing one, but does anyone have an idea of what it would go for?

Also, is it possible to have an error in a proof? Thanks to all!

environmental conditions dictate how a coin will age or tone out. While both are silver dimes, the 59 has 'milked' over and became dull or hazed looking.

The 1959 was likely stored in a pvc slip or some other holder that reacted with the coin.

to the CCF

Agree that the storage environment for the 1959 dime was different - and caused the toning/haze you now see.

Why do you think the weight would be different? A silver dime hasn't changed in weight since 1874...
