Tough call on this one. It maybe/may not be that DDO? Just can't tell for sure on this one. There is crispness of some of the devices (Indicating a fresher die strike) and some areas look like a partial Grease Fill on some of the devices. So it makes it hard to tell from the image match ups if it is, or if it is not a match. Spent hours on this and still not sure yet.

Coop, I am terrible with taking pics with the coin in the plastic. I cannot get the angles without terrible glare. There were several markers on my coin matched but the one that gives me the most solid believe that it is the FS-1801 is the die gouge above and in between the C and the A in AMERICA as well as the gouge over the letter I.

don't think it is a DDO, but have a good look under the chin on the obverse, looks like a die clash there.

@Dearborn, Coop made mention of a DDO but I think he meant DDR which this coin is.

Congrats Jim. Excellent looking example even if it wasn't the variety.
Yours might be a later stage as there seems to be slightly less definition between the base of the 3 and the 1 on your coin.. (Coops comparison images make it easier to compare.)

It is a nice DDR - I guess I got locked in on Coop's comment. did you check for the die clash under the chin?

Dearborn, I sure did. There is no die clash under the chin on this coin.

OK, thanks for looking - I thought I saw something there, maybe it was a shadow...

@Dearborn, look at the dot right of the word OF, the die scratches right of that dot are another marker match.

I ended up looking at one of these maybe six months ago. The one marker I found that seems to be definitive was a round die gouge just below and slightly to the right of the middle of the M in AMERICA. Your coin seems to show this, so I would lean pretty strongly towards DDR-001. Pretty sure there is at least one mis-attributed coin in the PCGS coinfacts images for this die so it is worth paying attention if using those images as they get a fair number of varieties wrong.

Have you considered die 007? http://www.varietyvista.com/03%20Bu...3PDDR007.htmHard to compare images when you don't have the coins in front of you? Note the Tops of the "UNI" image on Variety Vista? "TED" Some die markers can be on a die or it may be before or after the die event that caused the marker? So Trust the hub doubling first before markers.

@Coop, I did look at 007 but too many markers match up the the 001 for me to think it could be another attribution number.
