Greetings Folks

I'm a new Australian coin collector and am interested in building a modest bundle of circulated and uncirculated currencies from around the world. My preference is for old European coins, as I'm extremely interested in their more-actively documented history and culture. I'm also keen in readily participating in the hobby and expanding my understand of numismatics =)

I'm not yet particularly good at storing my coins, currently using plastic bags - Does anyone have any good long term suggestions? As I'm hoping to plan for perfection, I'm currently looking into Aluminium Coin Cases with velour interiors (links welcome)

If you've made it this far, let me know what your preference is for coins to collect, and why you choose this field/period?
Sincerely,
Moderator

For longer-term storage of uncertified coins, I use 2x2 holders stored in archival-quality pages in binders. It's a fairly compact means of storage and allows for easy viewing of all your coins.

Everyone will give a different answer on this one, and even for myself my preferences and interests have evolved and taken various twists and turns over my 55 or so years of collecting.

Currently my primary interests are U.S. type coins, silver classic commemoratives, and U.S. type currency (U.S. fractional currency is an exception - for that series, I'm trying to build a complete circulation-issue set). I still have a collection of foreign coins, but I'm not actively working on that as my focus has narrowed to U.S. issues only.

What got me into collecting as a youngster was primarily the historical aspects of old coins. I also get a lot of satisfaction in the whole process of building my various sets.

to the CCF.

I also prefer the 2x2 flips. You can get 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 ones as well which are better suited to crown size coins. You can write on the flips as well.

My main interest is foreign (non-Canadian and US, since I am from Canada and US coins do circulate to a small degree here) due to the huge diversity of coin types, even more so when you get older than the 20th century.

My tastes too have changed as well over the decades.

Hmm, thanks for the suggestions, peeps - The 2x2 flips are certainly seem unique and affordable. I'll have to add them to my storage array -
You're absolutely right about them being better for viewing. Can imagine the hassle of unbuckling aluminium cases each time for a quick glare, might get tedious

Lots of US collectors here I see. I'll likely have to dive deeper into the US commemorative field, as the commemoratives here in AUS are quite eye catching <3
Thanks for the warm welcomes all!
