The second strike was delivered by a fake die outside the Mint.

Fake die. They did a pretty crappy job of whatever they were trying to do. Can't see how this could happen after the minting process.  Or this;

Fascinating...look at LIBERTY. Did someone try to mimic the 1955 DDO--and this was a trial run?  Of course, this is a 55-D.

The soft, blended overlap, multiple sets of extra design elements, subtle flattening of the original design, and uneven bulging of the coin's outline are all characteristic of crude counterfeit strikes. These can get far more sophisticated and convincing.

That's a fake you could tell by the S it;s so large in comparrison to the nornal s in the coin it's obvious JAZEC

Whether it's been altered post mint or not the 'S' is the same size. Do the measuring.
