Hi all, Living in England UK, it's not possible to mine for silver like it is in the US. I have had to modify what is done by mining the UK 50p's for commemoratives. I have been doing this in quantity for about 18 months http://goccf.com/t/408828&whichpage=6#3788806& have now started to scout on ebay for Silver Half Dollars and other hole fillers. I bought a small job lot of US coins a couple of weeks ago, they were :- Half Dollar , 1964 Half Dollar , 1976 'D' Bi-centenary Quarter , 1965 Quarter , 1982 'D' Dime , 1975 Dime , 1983 'D' Dime , 1994 'P' Dime , 1998 'P' Nickel , 1946 Nickel , 1948 Nickel , 1964 Nickel , 1997 'D' Since I bought these, I have sold a couple of the 50p's that I have picked up in the last 18 months & the profit after the ebay fees has paid for the first lot purchased & I am now looking for more to buy and fill a few more holes in my collection. The Kennedy half dollar 1964 is my first silver hole filler....... YIPPEE!!! FREE SILVER Thanks, Merv

Thanks jbuck, After a couple of weeks of selling little bits on ebay I was still up on the deal, this situation didn't last long because I saw another lot of 3 KENNEDY's on ebay and managed to win them at a little over melt. (Just over $19 US) that's if I got the numbers right. 1964, 1966 & 1967. they should arrive the middle of the week, then i'll have to do some more selling to pay for them. More free silver... pictures as soon as they arrive. Merv

Just make sure you understand 65 to 69 are only 40% silver. Based on todays silver cost you have about $13 in silver for those 3 coins.

Hi all, I don't really care how close I am to the silver melt price because I don't think that the coins I am buying are of scrap quality & I am not just buying them to sell on for a profit. They are circulated & not in pristine condition but they are hole fillers and only costing me a little time & effort to sell UK stuff to get the money back to pay for them. I really enjoy coin collecting as a hobby so getting swapable coins from the banks every week is a buzz... the thrill of the hunt... I take my photos with a digital microscope that plugs into my laptop. Then it's just a matter of crop & re-size. It doesn't take long & it helps me to relax. Thanks, Merv ps. I didn't know the melt prices correctly , thank for letting me know. now here's the pics.

Sorry for not replying earlier but I have not found the need to use this thread for a while as I keep getting outbid on ebay & have not picked up anything. I hope to get a 1 or 2 lots tomorrow, if I don't get anything I may have to raise my bid limits a bit. The digital microscope that I am using is only a cheap one but it seems to work quite well. I don't know the make as I have thrown the box away. I probadly have some instructions & details about it somewhere but where I don't know Sorry, Merv

Hi all, At last another hole filler has just arrived. After all of the ebay fees, cost of the coin & postage I had enough to buy this Kennedy. Not a bad swap as it was only the profit from selling this one. I have a 1965 Kennedy on the way, hopefully that will get here in a day or two. After that I will only have a couple of Kennedy silver holes to fill then I can start on the non-silver. Thanks, Merv ps I'm also bidding on Walking Liberty's & Franklin's but have not got any yet.

I dipped into the profit pot again & these 2 arrived this morning. They are the first ones of each series that I have managed to win on ebay, hope I can get some more dates to fill in some holes in my new album pages. Thanks, Merv
