Nothing particularly special about this one but it's in a pretty strong grade and just looks very nice in hand. I'm calling it a keeper.

1978 type III coin from the Hub RDV-008. Not many I saw yet but know to exist. The RDV-008 was re-engraved and we can see the differences. High relief very nice coin.

Thinking it might qualify as an uncentered broadstrike. Thanks, Doug.

Thanks for the great comments! And yes, while I just said broadstruck the full definition for the coin would be uncentered broadstrike. It just seemed a bit obvious that it was uncentered.

And about switching from Lincolns, no I am not. I just buy error collections when I get a chance and they don't have just Lincolns in them. This one had more Kennedy halves I think than anything else, but also some pretty strong foreign off center coins and other whatnot. Just going through the quarters now and filtering what I want to keep vs what I have been selling off on the bay.

Since the R and T of LIBERTY are cut off, this coin qualifies as an off-center strike.

Hi Mike! I debated with myself for a bit about whether that qualified as an off center. I compared the top of the B with the top of the R and felt that while you can't see the top of the R it was not cut off. Then comparing the T and Y I kind of came to the same conclusion. The top crossbars appear to be more gone from distortion than gone from falling off the coin, with the physical tops of the letters defined by little lumpy footballs, which are visible on all the devices. Great to hear a more experienced diagnosis than mine, as some days I'm just making it up as I go along.
