Please see pic. I've never seen this. If it was post production I don't believe the details would be as sharp. Edited by SinisterSickness 03/07/2023 9:01 pm

A little difficult to see 'the whole picture' with the pic posted. Is that arc-like feature raised, or sunken (incuse)?

Looks too that the surface may have some dried glue or other substance on it. A long soak in 100% acetone might reduce/remove it.

It's sunken. I'll try to get a better pic. But what you can see, the lines match up somdoesn't appear to be post. Also, look at nose. Thanks!

You can actually see this without any magnification.i had thought the line on the nose went up further than it should and almost looks like forming second nose. At any rate, that is correct, it's partly incused. I didn't know word to describe. Worth grading?

Not worth spending $50-60.00 on getting graded. Whatever it is couldn't happen when the coin was struck so it is damage of some sort, doesn't really matter what.

Ok thanks.just never seen so vivid before and thought the lines of where Lincoln's head is, crown and back of head were still inline so thought any post damage, would actually throw those line off so not aligned. Thanks again.

Regardless how formed, it's just post mint damage. It didn't leave the mint looking like this.

Or a stain from another coin in a cup holder with stain from another coin. If the affected stain is present, the area will be level with the fields and design. But that is what I feel we are looking at from the images.

Thanks all! It's hard to see but it's not glue or a chemical. It's actually indented that way. Why I was perplexed that post production damage would create the indentation where it's basically perfect. I'd think the details would be lost and like the lines around the curvature of the back of his head would be off, at least a little. But they appear to line up perfectly which I would think would be 1/1000 chance of it not lining up if post damage.
