Thats Fantastic! I have been searching for and pricing out those sets as well, trying to rebuild my dad's collection. What an uphill battle lol. He started collecting in the 50's and had every mint released set in its original packaging, though he never got into loose coins much, a few old Morgans and lots of old $2 bills. I have completed 1960-2010 UNC and Proof sets, and am working on filling in 2010-present. I am also working on the Souvenir sets, those are close to my heart as I got my first in 96 when he took me on my first Denver Mint tour, and I got to put mine next to his in the coin box after. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the Prestige sets (My favorite to look at as a kid). I have only a few scattered of the Silver Proof, Premier Silver Proof, and Limited Edition Silver Proofs. I hope one day to complete the rebuild but those old OGP mint and proof sets are soooo expensive, and I don't ever expect to find them in as good of condition as his were. He had cardboard sheets between every set, and kept all envelopes and cardboard boxes stored separately, he was a bit OCD about it but it was an impressive sight all laid out, especially when I was younger.

Thanks Kid - my collection was a hard fought rum that started back in the very late 60's. But now that I'm caught up with the "OGP sets", I'll be free to expand to other areas. (after I finish my uncirculated ASE collection first.) Such as upgrading my buffalo set to a AU/BU grade (I'm aiming for BU - but if the ball falls a bit short, I'll take the hit.) Can I ask what happened yo your fathers collection?

oh, sorry to hear that. (Quoting is easy - using the square brackets [ ] and the word "quote" in between them and again with [ /quote] like this [ quote] this is a quoted phrase[ /quote] (Just don't have any spaces in the brackets. so the example will look like this when done properly. Quote: this is a quoted phrase

Kid, First, Sorry about Your Dad Passing, Sounds like He Loved Coins Too... I am Sorry Your Father's Collection was Lost, Terrible... I Too collect the Mint and Proof Sets All in OGP's, Seeing that Your Father was Like Myself, I Too found early on the Mint would send out Original Sets with One Cardboard " Protector ", I would cut out an Exact sized Protector so the Set was Protected Better, This was done for Many Too. I hope your passion to Get your Father's collection Re Built is Smooth. Back when the Premier Sets were released, I too searched for some Sets, Found some Winners Too Very Sweet Sets..... PS, John, I have from the Unc Sets -1948 To Date and the Proof Sets, 1942 to Date, All Original from the U S Mints. The Balance of Sets are Few and Pricey....The Hunts were Trying and Very Few Prime undisturbed Sets were Found, But they are out There.... Some of the Original Customer's Invoices Too... Cool Stuff Best Wishes !!!...Amazing the Directions a Collection Goes........

My uncirc sets start at 1950, and my proof mint sets (in OGP) also start at 1950. Finding uncirculated sets from the 1940's in OGP is next to impossible - but there are a ton of 'homemade' sets that were assembled in plastic cases. But I'm confused, I thought the mint did not issue any proof sets in the years 1943 to 1949. From what I understand the mint produced very early proof sets dated 1909 to 1916 then took a break from them, then they made the early sets from 1936 to 1942 proof sets were produced. And picked up from 1950 to present

I have been trying to Clean up the Voids in My Collections. ( said to myself, I will Stop This ...) UNCIRCULATED Set.. Early on, Issue Price $ 4.87 1947 , Mintage 5,000 This set would Complete the OGP Sets, From 1947 To Date. Doing so has been Quite the Hunt.... I know there are Special UNC Sets Too.... :) PS, no mint Sets were Released in 1950..... Value According to the 2023 Red Book, $1,500.00. Why would this set NOT be more expensive, There are ONLY so many to go around... Although $1500 is No Small Price to pay... I have looked and searched for a long time to see what's out there. People ALTER the OGP sets. Some remove the QUARTERS and say, they were NOT issued. YES some of the sets had included FULL Coinage to fill the Green Cardboard Neatly Wrapped Sleeves. Some sets did Not have full Coinage, the holes were cut into the sleeves, just left Blank...

I think I need to make a comprehensive list of the Mint OGP sets. Uncirculated, proof, silver proof, quarter only proof sets (clad and silver) Premier, Prestige, and LESP proof sets. Am I missing any before I start looking this up.
This will actually help me to better organize my sets too.
For instance: how do I stack my early proof sets? with all my silver proof sets {1950-1964, 1976 {special edition}, then again from 1992 to present (because they are silver), or do I stack the early silver proofs (1950 to 1964) with my mint proof sets (1965-1967 SMS, then 1968 to present) because it is a longer running series?
