Hello, came across this dime today. It is missing some of the date, seems a bit off-center, also missing the w in WE, and the Y in LIBERTY. Would sure like to hear what the experts have to say about this. Thank You very much.

Looks like a greased die when struck. It also may be a 1994, I can see the slope of a 4.

That's really cool. The date is 10 , I'd take that off your hands? Seriously, what would you take?

Is the diameter within specs all around? Plus double check the edge for anything out of the ordinary. Thanks, Doug.

@ NEWmrMATIC thanks, one of the first things I noticed on the date was the heart.....lol. it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you really want it, give me a number. I'm real easy to work with.

How to tell a Struck Through Grease error? Note on the affected areas, where nothing shows the die is totally full on that device. Where the area looks wider, that is a partial fill on the devices. These are the outside edges of the normal design of that device. Thus it is is not the spread like a doubled die. The overall width/height is normal. On a doubled die, the devices are larger than normal especially on the centers of the devices. That is what to look for to spot a Grease Filled Die issue. These are die events. When the grease is removed, eventually falls out of the die, then the die is back to normal. This can happen also on doubled dies, just like a Machine Doubling error can happen to a doubled die. These have no premium unless the 80-90% of the devices are gone:

People save these. Other wise your coin is just a spender. So when you come across these in future searching, you will know what it is and you can move on to the next coin. On real medium ones, these are nice to show to a new collector as a 'show and tell' item to show them and you can explain what these are. The grease struck through devices are not as tall as normal and look wider because the tapered area of the die was filled in with grease and only the lower base devices are seen on these coins.

CoopHome: What is a Struck Through Grease error? part of the die is filled in with grease on the deepest part of the die.
