1987 Penny Clear Doubling, But What's Up With This Small Extra Letter E?

Clear doubling, what's up with the rim elevated like this, also are my eyes playing tricks on me or is there a very small capital E just to the left of the s in trust? Report this Post to the Staff

Also that E is probably some sort of damage. There is no way that an extra letter can appear during the minting of a coin.
