I'm sure this will spark a little debate—thx for posting. Looks like a die chip involving the rim, so my vote is to call it a Cud. I'm interested to see where we net out on this one though.

To make for a good argument, I'll vote for die chip, Cuds should be higher than the rim - this is lower than it.

Use a toothpick on that area. If it falls off, it is grease/crud that is sticking to the coin. If it remains then it might be a die chip. (Could also be part of both?) Anything is possible in circulation.

Chip. Haven't seen this one before. Just goes to the rim. A Cud would involve the rim.
