I have this coin and it looks very different than others of it's kind. Can you share more information about it, value and rareness. New to owning coins. Thank you.... TTP

Damaged coin. If it happened after the strike then it is a damaged coin. Spender. (put it back to work) Or save it in your "Show and Tell" items to a new collector.

to the Forum, TTProcess14!
Could you give us an accurate weight of this coin? To me, it appears that either there is extensive post-mint damage or it is a counterfeit.

I'll post the weight when I home to this forum. Alongside the coins retrieved from grandparents small "collection". Thanks!

Possible heat damage? Almost looks like someone tried to melt it (for the 35% silver content).

Yes, post-strike damage. I do believe heat was applied at some point in the past. If coins could talk...

IK would go with a heat application here. I may add that the obverse looks like someone tried to 'antique' it with the kind of paint that cracks when it dries..

I agree with damage.

The reverse has a large P mint mark above the dome indicating this war time issue was struck in an alloy of 35% silver. Despite the damage the melt value of the silver content is $1.23 as of today spot silver price.
