I recently bought a large collection of coins and ended up with 450+ rolls of Lincoln wheat cents. I didn't really want them but the sellers wanted me to take everything. I've got 4 of the Whitman boxes that hold 100 coin tubes, a shoebox full of rolls, & various jars/boxes/containers full of loose wheats. Most of the tubes/rolls are neatly labeled with the date, mintmark, & a grade range. I've got several rolls labeled as "freaks" and/or "FIDO's". I've looked at a few coins out of a few rolls & they match the labels.
Lincoln cents aren't my thing. Even if they were I don't have the time to check every coin in every roll. I'm looking for suggestions as to how to get the most out of them with the least effort.

I know a bunch of Boy Scout taking a merit badge who would enjoy the opportunity to search through. It adds fun while teaching the class

I just went through thousands of a wheat and LM's and trust me it's a lot of work. I'm still sorting. You're lucky yours are so organized.
I'd do what John1 said or keep them till you have time.

there are varieties to look for, but they are uncommon and you likely have more productive uses for your time uncirculated rolls can be sold for a enough premium ( ebay) to be worth shipping, but circulated wheats after 1933 might sell for only about 3 cents each

I've gotten some lots before with the "freaks" and "FIDO" designation and I think they had die cracks, filled letters, etc. (maybe laminations as well). Not really errors unfortunately. Probably just bulk lot them on ebay by $10, $20, or another amount that makes it worth the hassle for you and can be shipped most efficiently. Grab a bag of different misc dates?

You have 450 rolls of wheat cents? I'd certainly inspect at least 50 rolls for early keepers before I'd even think of wholesaling them.

They appear to be well identified - which is a big start for either searching or selling. Personally I would at least search the rolls labeled Freaks and FIDO. Not sure what FIDO means though? Quote: I'm looking for suggestions as to how to get the most out of them with the least effort. Since you state no interest in a mass searching effort - I would bring them to a local coin show, leave them in my vehicle, and walk the bourse with an inventory list to offer them to the various dealers who have US coins for sale. You'll likely get offers in the 2 cents per coin range for a sub-set of them - I doubt even a high volume dealer wants to invest cash in 450 rolls.

Except for some of the freak & FIDO (freaks, irregular, defects, oddities) rolls these are all wheats. There were a lot more rolls of memorial cents I didn't have to take. I haven't had a chance to check out the freak/fido rolls. I opened one tube that was labeled "Freaks 1955 S Filled 9 5" & the half dozen I looked at on top of the roll had a filled 9, 5, & S. The oldest roll I saw was 1910. If I had to guess I'd say somewhere between 30-50% are rolls marked in the teens, 20's, & 30's.

I would start by offering them for sale here on CCF. No fees, only your time to make the topic.
