other than a little glare from the light source these great photos Echo1771.
the gash on the forehead is not only a little deep but its in a key area of the coin for grading. there are breaks in the luster on the obv around the cheek, jawline and definitely the jacket. the coin is no doubt MS. weak steps and a several small hits in that area. looks like some reeding hits inside the memorial. weaker reverse strike. all the hairlines are die polish lines.
all of these minor issues add up. but I think its still close to MS63. the difference in value between a 62 and 63 is only about $1 so it doesn't matter a whole lot but the hit in the hair is close to detailing the coin

The reverse appears wiped/cleaned and not well done. The obverse is nice. I'm not convinced that the entire coin has not been cleaned. I'll just say MS and leave it at that.

I'd say MS-63 with die polishing lines on the reverse.

Thanks everyone for the opinions and especially the information shared. I can see I still have a lot to learn. My original thoughts were lower than yours based on a youtube video I watched. As for where it came from, I bought 10 rolls from my local bank to look through with my grandson. I noticed that 2 of the rolls had writing on them with dates (all between 1938 and 1959) and the word "Save". Oddly, this coin was right next to a stunning 1986-S proof! Apparently, they are from a collection dump of some sort. I haven't finished looking through the rest of the rolls yet. Keep your fingers crossed. :)
