Does the microscope matter that you view your coin, currency, token, medal and so on under? Do you or have you upgraded when you felt you were advancing or advanced as time has passed/passes?
I have, will borrowed a Opqpq 4.3 screen digital microscope and I feel it simply isn't good enough. I truly have a very sharp eye and keen eye and I don't feel I'm getting what I need from this scope. Does any one who I'd say considers themselves as a expert, some one who has had equipment for a decade or more, some one who is cerifitied coin expert, business owner, and or worked in the field etc... for many years can recommend a better scope that isn't to fancy (don't need bells and whistles).
Thank you in advance for your professional options, comments and recommendations concerning this topic as I am sure it has been asked a number of times.

Aha! There's also an outfit called Lighthouse that do clip-on lenses for your phone. They're also good...

Dino-Lite is a very good brand. The lighting is going to be your biggest problem with every brand. John1  |

Thank you for the 411. I've had many through the years and attempted other methods lighting and focusing has always been a issue.
Some one on a post from 2017 on here mentioned a app for the cell but Couldn't find it

Do you have a clip on and if so can you recommend one. I don't want to purchase any random one or have to go through a bunch and waste money. I'd appreciate your recommendation. I had seen them I was a little afraid to spend money and be wrong. Thank you

@Reno911. Mine's the Lighthouse one that clips onto my iPhone. So basically it's a physical extension to your phone camera. You can zoom in on tiny details. You do have to take your phone out of its case though.

Anyone here ever considered or used a dissecting microscope to look at their coins? These aren't conventional microscopes, but sort of look like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dissecting-M...g+Microscope Biologists use them to zoom in and study the details on objects like leaves and insects. I bet they could also be used to study coins, although I haven't discussed these with anyone before. |

I use a Leuchtturm Copy Stand and Digi Scope you can take pics of coins from 42mm down to the minutest detail. Its not the best and I think I overpaid tbh on the £160 when the flood of £9.99 cheapo ebay versions do pretty much the same job but I have had this for about 5 years now and its reliable Very twitchy and lighting is as OP said is always the biggest problem. I use clip on bendy lamps. It gives me everything I need to see. But for things like minute scaring you would need a radio scope and they are probably out of bill gates price range lols. Here are 2 random pics of the sort of quality you can get with it. I would get something with very high mag the actual brand doesn't matter they are all much the same until you start spending serious cash.    |

As to magnification,the lowest number say 5x to a max of say 200x is plenty for coins. John1 |
