Izzylizzy Valued Member United States 155 Posts	Posted 03/25/2023 09:31 am Ok so on the obverse it appears to have a 2nd rim on the inside of the main one at first I thought coin roller PMD but when I use my magnifier the line seems to run UNDER the letters kinda through them but not rubbed over the top if that makes sense. As well as around his forehead nose area the surface looks like it's spider webbed they don't look like scratches though! If u can see in the pic it also seems to have a pearled effect the reverse pic don't show it very well but it's the pearl not the white coating they get.. ? The reverse also has the spider web look and pearl look but not the rim issue... Any ideas? Report this Post to the Staff

ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19112 Posts	Posted 03/25/2023 09:54 am I'm seeing a bit of a Ridge Ring on the obverse--a sign of Die Deterioration. The 'luminescent coating', or film, is likely the result of exposure to or immersion in a liquid containing compounds which remained on the coin's surface when it 'dried'. I have numerous, much older cents that have the blue cast on them. Is that some sort of environmental damage? I have too many coins within decades of one another that have this issue. Thoughts?
