Hello all! I was donated a 1921 Peace dollar by my grandmother, who says it was given to her by an uncle who worked at the Philadelphia Mint. Do you know where I could find a list of employees working at the Philadelphia Mint at the time? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

An easier, more interesting/informative solution, would be to check with family or research on Ancestry and learn who your grandmother's uncles were and what type of work they did.

Agree with smuglr. A genealogical/census data approach would be a good avenue to pursue.

The census is a great place to start as well as family memeber. Good luck.

@Dearborn Your link is a completely different topic. Good advice already provided. Only person that I can think of that may know the answer would be Conder101.

There is a wealth of stuff at Newman Numismatic Portal here https://nnp.wustl.edu/Library/Archi...archLetter=UUnfortunately you'll have to wade through mint letters etc looking for employee records - people hired, fired, logs of hours worked, pay raises, stuff like that. However, I have only been interested in stuff around 1900 and I think a lot of it after 1901 was lost or destroyed, so I'm not sure if there's anything from around 1921. Might be worth a look.

If you don't have an account with ancestry.com, I do and will be happy to do a search for you. You don't have enough posts to PM on the forum but, we can figure something out.

findagrave might be useful too, if you're trying to figure out what the uncle's name was. They show parents, siblings and children in addition to grave locations. It's free and some of their records show an occupation.

I think we have some genealogists here too! I've been a contributing member of findagrave for around 20 years. Yes, it's a great site to find folks!!!

I've learned a lot on this thread. Thanks Kiter11. Brought me down quite the rabbit hole.
