Wow if PCGS gave this a number grade, I think I know where I'm sending my Trade dollars If I had to say, I think I'd go with XF40

I saw this coin up for auction as I was bidding on another Trade dollar in the same auction. I like chop marks, but no interest in the coin as the abundance of chop marks removed most of the identifying details on the obverse and reverse. I disagree with the straight grade as PCGS could have called it details - rim damage as some big chunks on the rim are missing.

Quote: PCGS straight grades with a Chop Marks designation (NGC details I believe). Sorry, I got that backwards, was just going from memory. Yes, PCGS grades them and NGC gives Details - Chopmarked. I've also questioned in the past why there would be so many on one coin - did they not trust any other merchant, was it for advertising instead of authentication? Odd that they would assign a numerical grade when both sides are essentially obliterated.

Well I'll also disagree with a straight grade. I had it at AU Details before, but will say AU50 it straight graded. How they could attribute all that damage to chop marks and straight grade it is beyond me.

I suppose I'd be at AU-details, but that's a tough coin to grade!

Well, that's quite interesting and more than a bit surprising to me. Thanks for sharing, psuman08.

Insanity to my mind. Surely a grand will buy something nicer than this!
