Hey Everyone!
I just found this coin recently and while checking for DDOs I noticed some odd die gouges. Nothing too crazy but they were bold enough and with an interesting enough placement that I thought it was worth sharing.

Those are die dents. One die was dropped onto another die, altering the die face. (fields) Thus they are die events, but interesting, but not much of a premium for these. Probably all the dents happened at the same time. The double line dent: Note that there are two of them on that area? That is because of the die face and gutter hitting that area:
So those two edges from another die, damaged this die with an incuse mark into the die, leaving a raised area on the coins struck with that die. The lower die dent was probably a roll over event of the same drop. So that is how all three of the die dents could of happen on a single die drop event.

CoopHome: How do dies dents happen? Drop and tumble of a drooped die event. (Mis handled dies)

Thanks for all the information! That's super helpful. I think I'll hold onto this coin as my die dent example piece.
