The coin in question, for when the auction is taken down.

Holy cats that's bad. They have the doubling going both ways, just like the 55.

That is mind-blowing. So was an actual 1917 LWC used to create this? ..also Lincoln's face doesn't look right of course.

I should have posted the reverse also. It's a bit sketchy around the rim.

One of these came up for sale some while ago and got taken down. That's the only other one I've seen, and could be the same one for all I know, but been keeping an eye out to try and get one for my collection of counterfeits. Couple days ago I got a guy to take down a Chinese 1911-S. Always lots of fakes on ebay, but this 1917 is a trophy.

FF - Yes, yours is fake, too. Looks like it may be the same coin, or at least from the same dies. Notice how a lot of the nicks, scratches and staining all match up on the ebay coin and on the coin you just posted. Makes me think —— hummmm?

I have a few poor condition 1917 double dies they have no eye appeal like your copy does if it is a copy! Here's an image of a 1936 DDO from online. and I will try to follow up with a photo of a 1936 I have from coin roll hunting I cant see doubling in image but under light and look I see Mechanical Doubling or not genuine doubling on my coin but first is the one from online.1917 and 1936 Lincoln Doubled Die cents Coin Guides, Coins, Doubled Dies, Lincoln Cent, Lincoln Penny / Doubled Die, Lincoln Cent, Lincoln Cent errors, Lincoln Penny1936 Lincoln doubled die The 1917 Lincoln Doubled Die cents and 1936 Lincoln, Doubled Die cents listed in standard price guides (other doubled die varieties exist for the two dates but are listed only in speciality references) exhibit lesser degrees of doubling than the more famous 1955, 1969-S and 1972 Lincoln, Doubled Die cents, yet they are well worth collector attention.

In my oppinion your 1917 DDO is just more bodatious and cool then my poor excuse for a 1936 but it is the best 1936 that I have so far and not a real DDO like the first online picture of the 1936 DDO but I'm still looking for one. Wish me Luck and Happy coin roll hunting nice find on that 1917 DDO.
