Is it thicker than a normal weight dime?

@thum, this dime could be a slightly heavier than typical planchet, although it seems to be less than the allowable upper tolerance: 2.27 + 0.09 = 2.36 g.

A tad on the heavy side, but within tolerance.

Just slightly overweight. Also, there's die flow lines on the reverse, which indicates that the die was worn, when it struck your coin.
Errers and Varietys.

Iyes it is thicker, I don't have a micrometer at this moment to measure the thickness. I did receive a comment that this could have be struck on a Canadian planchet? A spender or something I can give my granddaughter towards her coin collection, not Valuable but different.

No more reeds, which is due to mechanical wear, such as from being spooned or more likely a short time as a Dryer Coin. For me this would be a spender, but since the cost of ownership is low, using it to inspire your daughter to be a numismatist sounds like a pretty good idea.

So this coin at one point may have been heaver since the reeds are gone and it is a half a dime thicker then others dimes that year? I Thank you for your time, besides looking for known coin errors, where can a newbie learn the difference between a mint error and a dryer damaged coin, that could have come from the mint that way?

You can learn by reading posts on this forum. We usually see and discuss at least one or two dryer or spooned coins every week. Do a search.

Not heavier because the reeds are gone, it was just a slightly heavier then normal dime that got caught in a dryer for a short time.
