I'm wondering what experiences collectors have had when they submitted coins graded by the second-tier grading companies -- ANACS and/or ICG -- to the top-tier grading companies -- PCGS and/or NGC.

I can see how grade levels might change, but am curious if gradable ANACS/ICG coins were found to be "Details" or ungradable by PCGS and/or NGC.

Thanks in advance!

There is simply no way to give a comprehensive answer to this question.

I have crossed numerous ANACS COINS to other services .
Most have been fine , especially the last couple of years .
In my personal and professional opinion , ANACS IS somewhat
maligned and undermined by many who have little experience in
dealing with ANACS .
One thing that is certain .. you can actually pick up the telephone
and talk to Paul De Felice or others . Other things to consider , the
service and price point is second to none !
We really have to understand that the so-called top two services
have one thing going for them ..marketing their various products.
Not necessarily better at grading coins , but head and shoulders
ahead in selling what they do .
We should all remember . Buy the coin not the holder .

Completely agree with Pacificoin....buy the coin, not the holder.

I purchased a slabbed 1909 S Lincoln Cent. Slab grade was AU58. Coin was obviously an UNC coin.

Sent to PCGS and coin graded as MS64.

I've had NGC coins that PCGS deemed "Details" when crossing over for registry sets. I'm sure it could happen the other way around too.

@Hidalgo,

Several of your posts have degraded Anacs. Do you have any Anacs coins? Are these posts just to post negative thoughts on Anacs?

I have several Anacs slab and I'm pretty certain all would cross over at a comparable grade. BUT I buy the coin not the slab.
