Correct Mycrob!
To recap, my original plan was simply to spoof all of the sellers on ebay who sell junk under the guise of Unsearched Bank-wrapped shotgun rolls. My ebay ad was meant to be the antithesis of those deceptive listings and to point out the folly of buying said unsearched rolls. As such, I was obligated to make darn sure the roll I was selling had strictly full, four digit date coins and 7 different mint marked coins. I also said (in my off-beat attempt at being humorous way) that the roll would NOT contain too many 1936-P's, the most COMMON date in the Buffalo series.
I truly did not anticipate that forum members would bid up the roll. However, when that happened I resolved to sweeten the roll even more. (What the heck...my ad plainly said that I would be "seeding" it) I added two additional coins to it, one of them being an additional mint marked coin. In the end, the winning bidder (a non-forum member) ended up with 42 nickels: 7 unique full date nickels from the 1920's, including a 1929-S; A 1930-S, 1934-D, 1935-D&S, 1936-S and 1937-D&S - in addition to 28 P mint coins from the 1930s.
This bidder initially sent the coins back to me, by mistake, having confused me with another ebay seller who sells unsearched rolls! I came close to having a stroke when that happened, but I finally got him straightened out. He apologized, said he loved the coins, left me positive feedback and then bought a second roll from me, also off of ebay. For the record, the second roll he won sold for less than $18.00, probably because there were no forum bidders this time around. Also for the record, the second roll ONLY lived up to the description in my ad, it did not exceed it.
I will continue to sell these rolls from time to time (NONE right now - don't bother looking!) to keep trying to get the message across to the buyers on ebay...that message being that there is no Coupe DeVille hiding at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box. (I stole THAT line from a Meatloaf song...!)
I'm sorry that some members saw this as self promotion...it did sort of work out that way for the one roll that I let you know about when I started this thread. I'm also sorry that I got a little carried away with some of the other ideas and terms I was throwing around in the later parts of this thread. Thanks to the Moderators for having the good sense to reign me and one or two others in before our well-intentioned but inappropriate ideas came to fruition.
