(Heads up folks, this is a longer read ) A huge step forward for what is going to be my FEC PCGS registry set, and a massive bucket-lister for me. This is the last (and the rarest) of the three multi-denominational clashes I needed for my set, and what is now the rarest piece in my entire collection. This came up on ebay this last week with "snow #? error?" In the listing, and with a starting bid of $0.99. I have been relentlessly searching for one of these for years with no luck. A couple have come and gone on ebay as cherry-picks over these years but never went within a price range I could pay. I ended up paying a shipped price of $394 for this example, which I believe could have ended up even more expensive if properly listed with correct attribution. I got lucky! According to what I believe to be the most recent data from Rick Snow, about 100 examples of this variety have been found since its discovery. I have counted under 60 of these examples to be certified by PCGS, NGC, and ANACS combined. Prices on this variety are quite high even in the lowest grades, with low G coins in the $750 range and VG coins in the $1500 range. Any higher than those grades and you're looking at thousands. The average VF example settles around $4500-$5000 from what I've seen. Speaking about the variety itself, clash marks from the $20 are visible in multiple areas of the obverse, which I have highlighted in red on an additional image below. Snow also lists that a re-punched date to the right of the 1 also exists, but may be difficult to see without a high grade specimen. This coin will be ending up in a PCGS holder when I get around to doing a submission, which will hopefully be soon. I'll be sure to update this post when I do! I'm expecting AG Details, possibly G details if they want to throw me a bone but as long as I have the correct variety attribution with this one, I'll be more than happy. Just filling this hole will be a big addition to the registry. Thank you for taking a look! -CH27 I'll also include a short read from one of Rick Snow's Flying Eagle cent attribution guides below about this variety. Nice pics and sweet cherrypic. Obviously at least one other person knew what it was, but this is likely a once in a lifetime thing here.

Thanks to you all! Hopefully I'll have the chance in the future to upgrade this, at least to a straight grade example but I couldn't be happier with this one. A big win for me personally, this has been a grail of mine for years. There was 13 bids, and 10 bidders. It had been noticed by a few at least. Glad I came out on top . -CH27

Thank you! Not a variety I would miss, especially not at the price.

Your bid came out on top.... of my bid. I knew I should have bid more ;) She's a beauty, congrats!
If you get to S FL and have the time some day, I'd love to show you a 'little' S7, S8, S9 collection.

Sweet that is a toughie to find in the wild, I've found two of the Flying Eagle clashed with the Seated quarter, but not this one.

Thanks all! I was very excited to win this bid, and very fortunate that I did!
ZenFE99, I expected this would go around $200 given the condition, but threw in a high bid just in case. I was surprised it went so high at all, but it really does show how desirable and rare this variety is. I'd love to see the collection someday!

Yes sir - I nearly tossed $500 at it when I saw the clash going through the date clearly, but thought for sure I'd grab it at what I bid. Goes to show that lurking at the last moment can cost you, but exciting none the less!
And most definitely if you're in the area, please send a msg! Not many Flying Eagle nuts/lovers out there, so it's rare I can bust it out for the proper audience.

Thanks Zen, jbuck. It was tough to price it out but I also thought it would go lower. I was surprised it got as high as it did. Thanks again! Nice to see another FEC nut on the forum, Zen!
