hi guys! greetings from australia, ive just purchased a 1904 Liberty Double eagle and have just had it tested by xrf, here are the results Au 89.4 Cu 10.1 Ag 0.3 Do these results look ok? is the small amount of silver normal? I know they are supposed to be 90% gold 10% copper but cant find anywhere which suggests any silver? Aldo does it look like a genuine US Coin, and not one of those lebanon copys ? much appreciated

Looks fine to me. You shouldn't have paid much over melt value for it.It is a common date that is circulated.

XRF results well within the tolerance accuracy limits of most of the cheaper XRF instruments.
In particular, Ag 0.3% OK, but it may well be probable that it could be less than that. I would inclined to investigate further, if Ag more than 0.5%.
Weight OK.
From pics, coin looks quite OK, with good strike and luster for condition.
AU55-58 range.

its awesome getting all of your opinions on it, here in australia not alot of people really deal in the pre 33 stuff. so I thought here would be the best place to ask :) I'm trying my best to get a little collection of the pre 33 stuff, it can be hard finding them here. Also I seen on the NGC website that the 1904 was highly counterfeit in real gold, so I started to doubt this coin, thats why I wanted to show you guys :)) lots of knowledgeable people here , which is great for newish guys like myself who love these old coins !

Sweet, everything looks spot on! Congrats on the large gold coin! It is good that a local shop is able to XRF a coin for you, that is nice of them.
