1982 Small Date Lincoln Cent Double Die Or Not

There is a reason for this site to suggest taking pictures of complete obv. and rev. here is why; We can not see if this is a D mint mark or if it is a copper or zinc cent. It is to your benefit because a small date, copper, D mint mark is worth about 10,000 dollars. Would you like to know that?

And just to tweek your nomenclature, the correct term is Doubled Die.

Called a doubled die, as the die that strike these coins have hub doubling on them, making the coins struck with these dies, a doubled die coin. Device doubling is cause by the machine on Machine Doubling. So it is not from a doubled die. But a coin with the doubled die, will look the same as the die was retired early. (thus a smaller number of the were struck) What to look for on these? DDR-001 FS-101 WDDR-002

Note the spread on the devices. Look at the centers of the devices.

Note how they are wider/taller than the normal devices will be.






Machine Doubling never makes a coin a doubled die. Only coins struck with doubled die, will be doubled die coins. Machine Doubling can also affect doubled dies as well. But again, Machine Doubling never is part of a doubled die. The spread between the hub process, make a doubled die, doubled.
