I have quite a few Canadian one cent and five cent coins from my bank! This latest one cent is 2.5 Gms in weight, multisided with Queen Elizabeth (may she rest in piece) on the obverse wearing a larger State Crown! I will guess this is not considered a "Young Head" due to the crown. Regards and Happy Easter.

Technically, that's a "tiara" she's wearing for this portrait. The State Crown is the big domed one with the cross on top that only comes out for ceremonial occasions like the opening of Parliament. It hasn't appeared on Canadian coinage since George V's last coins in 1936.

This is the second portrait of Elizabeth II used on Canadian coinage. It was also used on coinage of other countries throughout the remnants of the British Empire, from the 1960s through to the 1980s. It was also the last non-Canadian-designed portrait to be used on Canadian coinage.

No question, just trying to clarify the "young head" designation.

The "Young head" portrait you refer to is the first portrait for QEII 1953-1964

That is known as the "Tiara Portrait" design minted between 1965 and 1989.
